  • To retrieve your vehicle from impound, you must first come to the Sunbury Police Department (see release procedure):

  • To obtain the waiver amount for your traffic or criminal citation, contact the court that is checked at the top of your citation.

    • Sunbury's Mayor's Court: Call 740-965-2684
    • Delaware Municipal Court: Call 740-203-1570
    • Delaware Juvenile Court: Call 740-833-2600

    You may also visit Ohio Ticket Payments if you were cited through Sunbury Mayor's Court. If your citation is eligible for a waiver, your ticket information will be displayed, and you will have the option to pay the waiver online. 

    Important Notice: If you attend to apply for the Traffic Safety Program, do not pay your waiver online before speaking with a court representative. Waivers paid online are automatically processed as a guilty plea, and the resulting conviction is reported to the Ohio Bureau of Motor Vehicles.

  • To contest a charge, you must appear in court on the date and time listed on your citation or affidavit. It is important to verify which court your case has been filed with. If you are unsure, please contact 740-965-2684 for clarification.

    Juvenile Cases:

    All juvenile cases are handled through Juvenile Court. Court dates for juveniles are scheduled by the Court, not by the officer who issued the citation or affidavit. For scheduling information, please contact the Delaware County Juvenile Court at 740-833-2600.

  • Public record requests can be made electronically at Public RecordsNextRequest - Modern FOIA & Public Records Request Software.

    This portal offers a streamlined way to communicate with the Sunbury Police Department regarding the public records you need. You can view past requests and responses online, and you may find the records you're looking for without needing to submit a new request.

    Public records questions may be emailed to PublicRecordsRequests@sunburyohio.org.

    In person requests may be made at the Police Department Monday - Friday 8:00 AM - 4:00 PM, excluding holidays.

  • The Sunbury Police Department will no longer complete the Civilian Background Check Fingerprint Cards. These will have to be done electronically at the Delaware County Sheriff's Office.

  • The Sunbury Police Department provides local background checks limited to records within the City of Sunbury corporate limits. For records outside of our jurisdiction, you will need to contact the appropriate agencies directly.

  • The Sunbury Police Department offers a vacation check / house watch program for residents who will be gone for any extended period of time. While this service doesn't guarantee you from loss, theft, damage or mischief it does offer a deterrent to persons who may be looking to access your home. Please stop by the Police Department to complete the proper paperwork to make this request or submit via the form below.

  • Solicitor applications and permits are processed by the City Administration Office.

    Please complete application below, print and bring to the Municipal Building located at 9 E Granville Street, Sunbury, OH  43074 between 8:00 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Monday-Friday.  At that time you will be required to show valid driver’s license, liability insurance card, and make payment. Please call 740-965-2684 ext. 229 or email agraziano@sunburyohio.org with any questions.

    REQUIREMENTS:

    1.  Must give a copy of driver license to Police Department before you can solicit in the City(One time only)
    2.  All required county and/or state permits must be in order
    3.  Alcohol or tobacco shall not be used while soliciting.
    4.  Must have a copy of your Solicitor’s Permit on you at all time while working
    5.  Need license plate # from all vehicle that will be in the City(please list on back of form)
    6.  Any complaint of harassment permit license will be pulled immediately.

    FEES:

      $25.00 per year (Refer to Ordinance 717.05) (2 badges per application)

A court representative will be able to advise whether your case may qualify for one of the programs offered by the Court. Do not pay the waiver online before speaking with a court representative. Waivers paid online are automatically processed as a guilty plea, and the resulting conviction is reported to the Ohio Bureau of Motor Vehicles.
